The New Mexico Head Start Collaboration Office's (HSSCO) goal is to support the early childhood systems(s) and access to comprehensive services for low-income children and to encourage widespread collaborations between community-based Head Start programs, state funded programs, privately funded programs, and early childhood initiatives and policies. The Head Start Act (as amended December 12, 2007) requires the HSSCO to conduct a needs assessment of Head Start and Early Head Start grantees and delegate agencies in the State in the areas of coordination, collaboration alignment of services, and alignment of curricula and assessments used in Head Start programs with the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework and, as appropriate, State Early Learning Standards.
